More than Mime Theatre is aiming to inject the extraordinary into the everyday at Gemfest – Festival of GemsThe miner 8

With acts that surprise, touch, intrigue and delight, More than Mime Theatre will demonstrate their talents of world renown in roving street theatre whilst hosting a range of workshops.

More than Mime is an internationally recognised troupe of three performers with a variety of backgrounds including classic mime, circus acts and contemporary clowning who believe in bringing theatre to people who don’t expect it, are not looking for it and who might not otherwise see it.

“Gemfest is one of the major events in our region and we are so excited to see the event bringing innovative, high calibre performers to entertain and educate the community,” Capricorn Enterprise CEO Mary Carroll said.

10838534_1557788167835269_558894116_nFestival goers will have their own opportunity to move like Marcel Marceau or learn a clown trick or two with a special public workshop scheduled for Saturday.

“It’s a great opportunity for the festival goers to learn some new party tricks and perhaps gain a greater appreciation for the immense skill that goes into these acts,” said Gemfest President, Lew Proberts.

Anakie primary school students will also be very much part of the fun and through a two-day performance skills workshop they will be transformed into “The Little Sapphire Clowns”, playing a starring role in both Fridays official opening and the Saturday Night Spectacular.
